Hamilton

Hamilton was caught as an adult bird at a little colony of 30 pairs along the Linge, in the Netherlands.

The bird is named after Hamilton Monteiro who works for Wetlands International in Guinea-Bissau. He is responsible for monitoring waders and spends many hours in the field. Vogelbescherming Nederland works with Wetlands International in Guinea-Bissau to protect important coastal and wetland areas.

Hamilton started his southward migration in September 2008. Only within a few days he arrived in Algeria in North Africa. On his migration southwards across the Sahara, he faced bad weather twice and unfortunately died near the southern edge of the Sahara in Mali.
